Children’s Resilience Workshop

SUKA Society’s Children’s Resilience Workshop is a programme designed to build children’s resilience by exploring their sense of identity, aspiration, support system and coping mechanism. The workshop consists of 7 modules. Each module comes with a video guide and a set of worksheets.

Introduction: What is resilience?

The Introduction video  will introduce the concept of resilience and how the workshop will be conducted.

Module 1: Who Am I?

This module is an exercise for you to explore your identity construct and identify why they matter to you.

What will you be doing?

  • Mind mapping
  • Identify your top 5 identities
  • Discover what’s important to you

Module 2: My self-discovery journey

This module is a mind-mapping activity that helps you explore your goals, strengths, weaknesses, support system and coping mechanism. 

What will you be doing?

  • Mind mapping
  • Identify your goals, strengths, weaknesses, support system and coping mechanism

Module 3: My support circles

This module’s purpose is for you to identify the different people around you that can be part of your support system. This is an important part of resilience-building as you learn who you can reach out to for support.

What will you be doing?

  • Identify and list down the people, institutions or groups that you know of
  • Organize these people into your primary and secondary support circle based on given criteria.
  • Discover how these people can be a support to you

Module 4: My emotion chart

In this module, you will be exploring your emotions and categorize them positive, negative or neutral emotion. You will also learn how your experiences are closely linked to the emotions you feel.

What will you be doing?

  • Sort emotions into positive, negative or neutral categories
  • Map out the emotions you remember feeling based on your experiences
  • Recall the reasons why you feel those emotions

Module 5: The Feelings Guy

This module will be exploring your style of coping with negative experiences. Learn to process your bad experiences and identify a healthy way of overcoming these experiences.

What will you be doing?

  • Watch a video and identify the emotions displayed
  • Process how a bad experience affect your emotion and how you cope with it by using The Feelings Guy.
  • Learn how to identify healthy coping methods.

Module 6: The Goal Maze

In this module, you will be identifying possible obstacles, challenges or hindrances that may stop you from reaching your goal. 

What will you be doing?

  • Identify a goal you want to work on
  • Assess your current status, resources, support and personality.
  • Map out possible challenges that may stop you from achieving your goal.

Module 7: What's in my control?

This final module is a continuation from The Goal Maze. You will be categorizing your challenges into those that are within your control and those that are not. You will also be mapping out possible strategies that you can use to address each challenge.

What will you be doing?

  • Sort your challenges into those that are within your control and those that are not.
  • Map out ideas that can help you overcome these challenges
  • Identify possible actions that you can take to minimize the impact of these challenges to your goal.
