Who are we?
SUKA Society is a national non-governmental organisation (PPM-001-10-22102010) set up to protect and preserve the best interests of children. The organisation focuses on advocating for and safeguarding the rights and well-being of vulnerable and marginalised children in Malaysia. Its programmes and services specifically address child protection concerns affecting unaccompanied and separated children, those caught in human trafficking, and children lacking access to education and development.
What is our approach?
SUKA Society approaches its child protection work through both service provision and advocacy for systemic change.
As a service provider, the organisation focuses on creating direct impact for vulnerable and marginalised children by implementing programmes that are tangible, solution-based, and sustainable.
As an advocate, it collaborates with various stakeholders, including government ministries, UN agencies, international and local non-governmental organisations, community-based organisations, corporations, schools, community leaders, and the general public, to push for structural changes in child protection.
Our Objectives
Promote
the best interests of a child by conducting training programs for children and anybody who comes in contact with children.
Produce
research and publications on issues related to children.
Advocate
for the survival, protection, participation, and development of all children.
Provide
welfare and community development programs for children and for their families.
Empower
We also firmly believe that all children, especially those who are marginalised, are empowered to grow and develop into their best potential. As such, we are constantly looking for mechanisms to create opportunities to improve on a marginalised child’s access to education and developmental programmes.
